American A prisoner of Politics

You must have heard the latest confrontation between US and its TRUSTED ally on the war on terrorism Pakistan. Few weeks ago an American Diplomat Raymond Davis who shot and killed a man who tried to rob him on the streets of Lahore. Davis was arrested and sent to Jail. Now US claims that Davis has blanket diplomatic immunity which Pakistani administration has denied.
Pakistan Peoples Party which is running the show is under tremendous pressure from the Fanatic elements to show no leniency to the murder convict Davis. Prime Minister Yousuf Reza Gilani is not only feeling the heat from the fundamentalists but also from a section of his party colleagues who want to corner him so they have the chance to lead Pakistan, one such contender is Shah Mahmood Qureshi who was dropped as foreign Minister from the Gilani cabinet few days ago is a strongly contesting the American Notion of Diplomatic Immunity. Qureshi who till few days ago was a strong supporter of American Actions and Ideology has all of sudden changed his color like a chameleon. His recent outburst was purely motivated with the power equation, He said he will testify against Davis if court wanted him to testify.

America is somewhat aware of the Power equation in Pakistan and American diplomatic pressure can break the government instead of Bending it, so the diplomatic road is tough. If the Pakistani Government is releasing Davis that is a writing on the wall for the existing government to be prepared for the mass demonstrations. Stuck between fire and fire pan, government has decided that the courts will decide the fate of Davis or the family members of the victim can Pardon the Davis.
Would Pakistani Government would help the victims family monetarily through back channels to seek a pardon for Davis to resolve this diplomatic row? It is learnt that the clergy is getting together to influence family not to Pardon Davis. Now It is battle of power and politics on the shoulders of a poor who tried to Rob Davis to feed his family. I wish he had a job, money so he did not have to leave this world with bullets in his body.
America is aware that too much pressure on Pakistani establishment may insure a revolt against the PPP government and can push country into the crises.
It is to be seen How would they resolve this simple but entangled Diplomatic row, whatever the outcome it seems Davis is going to spend some memorable nights in Pakistani Prison.

A Little Raindrop I met.

A little lonely rain drop up in the clouds was getting ready for an unseen journey, as the cloud was thundering and ready to drop her, she was scared of an unseen journey and felt lonely and lost.
This little raindrop who lived, enjoyed and played as a free spirit on this high cloud was on her way to an unknown destination which was a free fall of many miles and she had no Idea what would happen to her. She jumped as the cloud thundered she fond herself all alone falling a free fall, she was scared, lonely and no one around who could help her. She felt lonely and insignificant, as she kept falling to her final destination. she was thinking of her existence as why and what was the purpose of her existence?

Soon she saw a land dry and full of cracks, she also saw a flock of humans looking at her with hope with open arms to embrace her, she soon realized she was not all that insignificant, in-fact people, animals, birds, trees earth and everything on it celebrated her arrival., earth was happy to have her!
This little tiny rain drop brought end to a long drought, the earth was so in love with this little drop that the result of this new found love was green grass, fruits and vegetables. Animals were happy, people were grateful and the birds were singing songs.

Little raindrop felt very useful and desired, she brought so many smiles! It was time for her to move on, now she was part of a running water which became a mighty river. She was excited to see her might and power, she was a little raindrop but her existence provided passage to ships and boats. She provided direction to mighty ships and helped them reach their destination. She was happy at her new found power and the fact that she was not insignificant.
She moved on and found herself roaring out of a dam, now she was generating electricity! Which will brighten many homes, will run many industries and will make people happy. She was happy to find her usefulness and was in-fact proud of her being a little rain drop which made so much difference for others.
At the end she became part of a great ocean which provided life to millions of fish, whales, turtles and all kind of sea creatures, they were all grateful to have her!! Now she lives in a vast ocean helping all the ocean creation.

Tiny rain drop forces me to think of my existence? Am I here to make lots of money? Have massive home (one is not enough) so many homes? All the luxuries? Millions of dollars? Leave worldly possessions and head to woods for Mokhsha? Become a Monk? Not sure what would be the right answer would be but my dilemma is how to take all these possessions with me when I am ready to leave this earth? I am not sure but I will keep looking for an answer.

Taliban the Creation of .....

Pakistan has always been the first, The first Islamic Nation with the Nuclear capability, the first Islamic Nation on the Path to creating a hardcore Militia or Militants and now the first Islamic nation teaching rest of the world how to throw dictators out of the Power.

Pakistan has its share of Glory and miseries and it began with Pakistan’s failed adventure to capture Kashmir in 1947 (right after the Great partition of India), then a Princeliest state ruled by Hari Singh, Despite being a Muslim Majority State people chose to accede to India rather fall in the Hands of Pakistan which from the very beginning started with a human rights violations. Pakistani adversaries were pushed back and it was a slap on the cheeks of Pakistani establishment. Kashmir became bone of contention between both nations and till date they are unable to swallow the defeat of 1947.
India was eager to reply back so they, created a plan to separate west Pakistan now Bangladesh from the Mainland Pakistan, India was successful in its master plan, India has put in place the civilian force comprising of Indian Bangali’s and Pakistani Bangali’s and they were known as   Mukti Bahini (freedom organization). Pakistani Military was defeated and more then 90,000 Pakistani soldiers were made to surrender by the Indian Army led by Lt. Gen Jagjit Singh Arora who went with mere 10,000 Indian troops, It was a shame that Pakistan may not forget for many generations, India was quick to rub salt on the open wounds by releasing all the Prisoners of War in a goodwill gesture and to show rest of the world how great a deed it was, rest of the world was taken by the generosity of Indian act and no one questioned Indian interference in Pakistani affairs and Bangladesh was born.
Russia which wanted to Invade Afghanistan forgot to consult their historians about the people of Afghanistan. Afghans have been nomadic since centuries and none of the Kings and rulers were able to fully rule Afghanistan since the history is kept. Russians tried their best to rule that part of the world but US was not very happy with Russian presence in the South Asia/ Middle East, so they bribed Pakistan with arms ammunition and money which Pakistan needed to match or keep up with its Arch rival India. Taliban was created with the Help of American Tax payers hard earned money to counter the Russian advances in Afghanistan. US was successful in its plan and Russians decided to leave the barren land of warlords, Now it was free for all situation, Afghan President  Najibullah was assassinated. His blood-soaked body was hung in public in Aryana Square in Kabul, Afghanistan on September 27, 1996  and the nation was in the hands of Warlords and Taliban. US realized that they had created a monster (Taliban) who is hell bent to destroy the values of a free world, equal rights for women, freedom to Pray or choose religion. Afghanistan was pushed into the dark ages where women were not allowed out of their homes without the company of a man, they were not allowed to go to schools, so it was a sea of zombies walking in hijabs without any identity of their own. Afghan who can afford escaped to India and Pakistan to save their lives and of their families. Now US had a bigger problem to deal with and it was Taliban a brutal regime which killed people in full public view in the Open play grounds, No games were allowed during Taliban rule so Play grounds were converted into killing fields, Life was tough and many Hindus and Sikhs who lived in Afghanistan for ages fled their mother land for foreign nations never to go back, In order to counter Taliban US had to make friends with Gulbudin Hikmatyar another somewhat moderate warlord, He was helping US take control or defeat the Taliban which proved to be impossible as US intelligence agencies could not fathom the power or dedication of brainwashed fanatics so Gulbudin Hikmatyar was assassinated along with many others. US was expecting Pakistan to help finish the menace of Taliban but they forgot that Taliban was the creation of Pakistan and its intelligence agency ISI and people in that part of the world do not change their loyalties because you want them to so US is still having the challenge to work out a plan to eliminate the Taliban, Some in Pakistani establishment tried under pressure from Pakistan but the result is on the newspapers every day suicide bombers are at will to kill anyone any where.
After the death of Gulbudin Hikmatyar Taliban had no known enemy so they went ahead with their plan of Islaminisaton and encouraging many thousand on the edge fanatics to join the cause of God. (I am still trying to understand that part) Afghanistan the land of brave and humble traders were turned into the land darkness and assassinations. The seed sown by the US was a mature tree and the fruit was visible everywhere from New York to Europe, from India to Bali, Thousands of children were left orphans and thousands of desires were buried with them.
Taliban started demolishing the Historic statues of Buddha which were in existence for many centuries, the famous saying is that Bush was watch foot ball and their was a commercial break so he flipped the channel and found people destroying a statue with artillery, he thought it was fun and enquired what kind of game it was? He was told that it was not a competition but the Taliban were destroying the Mighty Buddha for the past few days without much luck. Isn’t the Buddha Dali lama’s (Dalai lama) relative? Staff said yes, so bush got upset and ordered to finish off these Taliban Guys, He proved his might and friendship for Dali lama that the Taliban had to run for life and their supreme leader (one eyed Mullah) fled on a bicycle (Makes me chuckle). Bush kept his promise and freed Afghanistan from a barbaric regime. I still like you Ex President Bush, you screwed everyone of us royally but you had a golden heart and that is your legacy.
So Pakistan became the first Islamic Nation to export terror to rest of the world and also became first nuclear Islamic Nation, thanks to Uncle Sam for all the money and technology so Pakistan can counter or compete its arch rival half sister India.
Pakistan has the history of dictators, more then half of its independence/ creation it has enjoyed under the some what strict regimes of Military dictators, but Pakistan became the first Nation to stand tall and firm against one of its own, General Pervez Musharaf a dictator who took Pakistan in a bloodless coup from a legitimately elected corrupt government (parliamentarians). Pakistani’s from all walks of life made Gen. Musharaf’s life hell with road side protests for months. He had to shun his uniform under pressure and later his presidency to fled to UK to save his life. Pakistan is the torch bearer for rest of the Islamic world including Egypt and lot of other nations are inspired by the Pakistani imitative to throw the dictators out.
I must say Pakistan makes me proud when it comes to throwing dictators out!! Pakistan has multiple contributions (bad or good) to this ever evolving world, But I truly believe that India and Pakistan, Russia and US are responsible for all the mess we have in the world today or should I say Kashmir is the bone of contention between two dogs.

Kashmir Connection: What I lost with Turban

Kashmir Connection: What I lost with Turban: "Hard to Imagine how many changes I have seen into myself, not only have I seen myself growing from a kid to a young man and now I am looking..."

Lonely Princess

Today the February 11, 2011 reminds me of my grandmother and one of her stories. She was a great story teller and every story had a strong message.
In one such story a beautiful Princess was tricked by a witch to a distant land and kept in a dark castle. Princes was instructed not to venture out as the whole Island was surrounded  by wild animals, darkness day and night. Princess was all alone on the Island with no light in sight, the only thing she had was an Oil lamp with a very limited oil in it, so she had to live darkness most of the day and night, but she would lit the lamp for few minutes every night before she went to sleep. She was very beautiful, Kind, Positive with Magical eyes, long dark hair and a Golden Heart. She had heard of the stories where a Prince will come and rescue her, but despite many months in captivity she has not seen any Prince looking for her, she was disappointed but the hope of a Prince coming one day to rescue her was keeping her alive and positive. Despite all the hardships she was always smiling and cheerful.

On the other hand a merchant travelling on a ship was twisted by typhoons and he found himself on the shores of an Island covered in darkness, He had heard of Islands and knew people live in lands to save themselves from typhoons. So he started moving in lands, despite may hours of travel he found no sign of life on the Island and many days later he found himself lost. He survived by eating nuts and fruits or whatever he can get his hands on in the dark, He was tired, hopeless and almost cloth less. while travelling one day he saw a twinkling light far far away, he could not believe his eyes, finally there was light at the end of the tunnel, Before he could think of anything the twinkling lamp went off, He sat there with the hope that it will turn on again, almost 24 hours later it was lit again for few minutes, Now the Merchant's hopes were riding high and he started moving towards the direction of the twinkling lamp, each night the lamp was little closer, after few days of travelling he was in front of a castle on top of a hill.  He opened the door from outside and found a beautiful princess inside waiting for him. She asked if he was the Prince who was here to rescue her from the Witch? A Prince without clothes, shoes or a Horse. He was rather in miserable condition so the Princess took him in and took care of his health. After few days of rest Merchant was in a better shape to talk and listen. Now they were two and my grandmother said one plus one is eleven not two? I guess in this situation it was eleven, they  were able to provide each other company and find there way out of the Dark Island. There is always a way you just have to trust yourself.

Great!! I said "so Prince saved the Princess"? Came the answer from my Grandmother NO.... Princess saved the Merchant, her explanation was it was the twinkling lamp which gave hope of life to the Merchant or he would have lost his will to live. What about the Princess I said Granny was quick to reply, Princess had never lost the hope she knew someone would come to save her and that is what happened right? I had to say yes, She said it is what you believe in and it was the positive energy of the Princess which attracted Merchant to Island.
She was a strong women, who always believed that women is not the shadow of a man but a nurturing shade in the hot dry sun. She was a Princess herself as in Sikhism women have their own Identity and their own Last name which is Kaur literal means Princess and every Sikh man has a similar Last name Singh means Lion. She was a strong advocate of women empowerment because she was from a generation where Hindu women had no right to live after the death of their husband and Muslim women were half of that a Muslim men.
If she was alive today she will say life is Beautiful, the witch which imprisons you is inside you and the Prince which sets you free is inside you, you need to beat the which out of your heart and keep that Prince close to you.
My response to Granny would be life is complicated, not every one is a Princess like you, But I wish you can Inspire few.
